I am seeking information about the Tuohino family. My records in Finland end with the death of Maria Johanintr Tuohino, born Jan. 10, 1832 in Kempele, died Jan. 23, 1906 in Rantsila. She is my great great grandmother. Her daughter, Anna Liisa was married to my great grandfather Jacob Lukkarila. The emigrated to the U.S. sometime in the 1890s with their daughter Jennie.

Yes, thank you, I have found that information, but I do not find her marrage record there. I wondered whether the family moved to Rantsila but I do not find the Tuohino name listed in Hiski records in Rantsila.
However, I found her marriage record when I visited the Rantsila church several years ago. According to their records, she married Simon Johaninpka Äijälä tai Harju. Their daughter, my great grandmother, Anna Liisa, traveled to America with her husband Jacob Lukkarila, her brother Antti Äijälä and her cousin, a Tuohino. I was trying to find which family he came from. I did not think to ask when I visited the church. At the time it was a surprise to learn that Maria was originally from Kempele.

Hi. My research also led me to the rather complicated Tuohino families of Kempele. And, as if that were not enough, I also found myself looking into their relatives at Muhos! Two farms were established at Kempele: No. 6 owned by Lars Tuohino (1649-1741) and No. 7 by Anders Tuohino in the 1600s. Your names appear in the No. 6 farm, with the descendents of Lars often using the name Samuel - hence Johan Samuelsson (b.1796) who married Sophia Junttila.
Unfortunately I cannot answer your question about which Tuohino went to America. My interest in the Tuohinos has waned somewhat since I discovered that the Tuohino family of interest actually came to Kempele from the Kaakinen farm at Tyrnävä in 1853. However, now that I know your interest I will keep on looking.
