utfattig?

Viesti Kirjoittaja ljsmedman » 18.09.2016 02:39

I found the record of Johanna Gustava Frantz in the 1850-1857 kommunionbook [http://digi.narc.fi/digi/view.ka?kuid=7097235]. She was widowed in 1843 and had 2 illegitimate children after that. Does the note "ut fattig" mean "beggar"? Also, can anyone provide a translation of the notes for her daughter and son, Johanna and Johan? Ulrika, 1843, is my great-great-grandmother.
Many thanks!

I'd translate utfattig as impoverished. Sometimes mentioned also in church books, but usually only in tax records meaning that the person didn't have to pay personal taxes. I think she didn't have any fixed source of income, and may have received help from the community.
Johanna moved on 20 Aug 1853 to Mustasaari, moving record specifies karperö (village in Mustasaari/Korsholm).

Johan moved to Mustasaari Höstvesi on 1 Oct 1850, but he returned on 13 May 1851

Many thanks Jaska. It would make sense that the oldest kids would go out to work if the family was impoverished.
One question: Would Hostvesi be "autumn show"? Was this an annual fair? Any idea where that would be held?
I can't find church records from 1858-1863; is there no archive for these years yet?
In 1864-1870, the remaining Hake family is listed here: http://www.sukuhistoria.fi/sshy/sivut_e ... 6&pnum=278. Does "Farvas" mean "father's name"? Are Westerberg and Lappan the fathers of the illegitimate children? If the fathers were known, would they have had any financial or legal responsibility for the children?
These church records certainly tried to keep track of everything!

Höstvesi is a name of a village in Mustasaari. It's an odd mixture of Swedish (höst = autumn) and Finnish (vesi = water).
I guess Järfvas, as I read the name in parenthesis, is some kind of place name.
I have no knowledge of this area, and cannot tell about the place names there.
Indeed, it seems that a set of communion books has not yet been digitized :(
Question about fathers of illegitimate children is too difficult for me to answer. Usually it's hard to find their nidentity.
