Above is the link to the birth record of Ullrika Leinotar born 06 May 1776. There is no father listed which does not need to be translated but there is a word written in her record at a diaganol and I am curious to its meaning. Her mother's name is Carin Gustafva Leinotar. Her record is page 331 5th entry with a birth in Paldamo.
Thank You

Ullrika Leinotar birth record translation
Re: Ullrika Leinotar birth record translation
The diagonally written word is oächta, a bit different form from oäkta. Both mean illegitimate, extramarital.
On page 336, for example, you find another such text.
Interesting to see how systematically the female names have -tar suffix while men have -nen. My own work is located elsewhere with different naming practices.

Re: Ullrika Leinotar birth record translation
Thank you timotk for your reply. I thought that word meant illegitimate. Yes it is odd to have tar and nen at the end of a name and it does confuse me when I am trying to connect siblings, especially when you are used to having the last names spelled the same. Oh well, that was then and this is now.
Thank you again. Weekend on the horizon, have a nice one.
