I have noticed the wording Warda or Wärda on death records located before the name. Does this mean Mistress of the house?
See Hiski record below: The Deceased line shows Warda Helena Pijratar

Translate Wärda
Re: Translate Wärda
Modern day värdinna was earlier written with w. Hiski often uses shortened transscript forms, for example wärd:a. Wärdinna was the female counterpart for the master of the house. Modern meanings of the word include hostess.
Re: Translate Wärda
Thank You Tim for your help. I'll add that to my list of words that did not appear on the http://www.saunalahti.fi/hirvela/indexuk.html# and had to be translated for me.
Your help is always appreciated.
