The above link is to the death on 16 January 1709 of Britha Olofs Ollila. It looks as though there is a cause of death in her entry and if this is so can you please translate her cause of death.
Thank You
Janice

There isn't given any cause of death for Brita, only her age.

Sorry, no cause of death. It was not common at that time anyway to record a "natural" cause of death. Some time around 1750 the priests were told to state the reason of death in all burial records.
So what can be read here is: Brita, wife of Olof Ollila, (date of death), (date of burial), 52 years old

Re: Britha Ollila -died 1709
I was wondering what does "bryref" or a similar word mean. It is repetitive on the pages. I have not seen this word before.
My research in SAOB on-line vocabulary that explains old Swedish words, seems to indicate that it contains bry and ref. They would indicate that the reason was "tormeting ailment". So it is most unspecific. The person in question (if I understand this right) was not killed by violence, accident or other external reason.

Re: Britha Ollila -died 1709
Might it be shortening of "begrafd" (buried)?
Re: Britha Ollila -died 1709
For instance top right: begrof might look like "bryref"

Re: Britha Ollila -died 1709
You got it. Hiski for instance, uses the following date as the date of burial. I was a bit too sleepy in the morning
Re: Britha Ollila -died 1709
Oh... so you read "bryref" instead of "begrofs" . It happens ....

Re: Britha Ollila -died 1709
Hello,
I was quite surprised to see so many entries for one person. Thank you so much for trying to determine if there was a cause of death. I hope it didn't take you long to work on my request. When I saw the word repeated I thought it could be a cause of death. It would not be the first time that I did not find a cause of death in Hiski but found one at this site and that is what I thought I was looking at. I like to add a cause of death if I can locate one as it may show a trend of illnesses such as epidemics, during winter months, etc. Later when I am done researching my family, I can create a spreadsheet and have a picture of illnesses and dates and gives the viewer another picture of the family.
Thank you so much for your help. I will put her cause of death as 'unknown'.

Re: Britha Ollila -died 1709
I need to ask, what is written after 'begrofs 25'...ljusd: ? what does it mean? Some have the month of the burial some others this 'ljusd:'
Re: Britha Ollila -died 1709
Ejusd: = same (month)
