I have a male ancestor that died at age 83 in December 1757. Hiski says his cause of death was af ett fall.
Could you please tell me what af ett fall means.
Thank You
Janice
Cause of death
Re: Cause of death
"Ett fall" has many meanings, but the one that seems the most applicable here is: "an event, an incident". But one of the meanings is also "sad event" that is very close to "olycksfall" which means accident.
"af ett fall" = "caused by an accident" is my best educated guess.
Literally "fall" is equivalent to the English word, for example the incident could have been falling in stairs, from a cart or any other high platform.
