I am researching the death of my relative Anna Gretha Keränen on 12 Feb 1879 in Kuhmo. I have copied the entry from SSHY and I am unable to make out the cause of death. Can you make it out?

Above is the link in SSHY and I believe she is the 10th line on the page and shows dates 12 and 16 and number 344. And the 12 and 16 may be in February. It also shows she was 52 yrs 19 days at the time of death and was born in 1827.
At least I made that out. Her husband was Matti (matts) Kähkönen.
Thank You
Janice

Yes, you've got everything right. The cause of death (actually the main symptom, which often was the best they could give for the cause) is vesitauti, direct translation: water illness (in Swedish vattensot) meaning she had the type of swelling you often see in heart or kidney failure.

Glad to hear you and your home survived the flood! Must have been a scary experience! At the moment part of Finnish west coast is flooded, they even had to evacuate some houses, but the worst seems to be over now.

Thank you Eeva for your translation in Anna's cause of death. The hand written records from the 18th century - 19th century are hard to read.
Did not like to hear about the flooding the western Finland, especially this time of year when it's getting cold. I would not want to go through that. I hope everything turns out for the people in that area. Here's an interesting story I just have to share. Not far from my home there was a young couple that had a new home built for them. They were literally hours from moving in - 48 hours - but then the floods came, now they have no home and a very big mortgage and no flood insurance.
So sad.
Have a nice week and thank you again.
