Johan Kahkonen and Maria Ohtonen's move
Johan Kahkonen and Maria Ohtonen's move
I have been reviewing Sukhistoria for Kuhmo moving records. I am interested in finding the date when Johan and Maria moved out of Kuhmo and to Russia. From a family history I show Johan and Maria married 02 Dec 1873 in Katerma 17, Kuhmo, Oulu. They had their first child July 1875 in Russia they named John Herman . In the Moved records for Kuhmo I could not find when they moved. I believe it would have been between 1874-1875. Found a lot of Kaikkonen's but no Kahkonen's. From Russia they would eventually move to America and arrive here in 1882.
Could you please check for a record on them? I had a hard time following if I was in the Moving In records or the Moving Out.
Thank You
Janice

Re: Johan Kahkonen and Maria Ohtonen's move
Would it be possible for someone to review my request. I'm hoping it would not be time consuming to review as I believe the information, if it was entered, would be between 1874-1875.
Thank You

Re: Johan Kahkonen and Maria Ohtonen's move
I checked the moving records 1874-1881 and Johan and Maria are not listed there. Probably because they left the country, those moves were usually not listed. The communion book 1877-1886 has them and their daughter Anna Greta (born 26 JUL 1874) moving to Norway (i Norrige):

Re: Johan Kahkonen and Maria Ohtonen's move
Thank you for your reply. I thought the lack of a record of their moving was possible if they were leaving the country and family stories have them living in Norway for a couple of years and I also saw some family records that shows their first two children born in Murmansk, Russia. So they may have traveled a bit before finally settling in Norway where John worked to earn passage to America. Your findings helps put this issue to rest.
Thank You so much Jani

Re: Johan Kahkonen and Maria Ohtonen's move
In 2013 I asked for information regarding Johan and Maria Kähkönen move. The post is below and this link was sent to me: http://www.sukuhistoria.fi/sshy/sivut/j ... 86&pnum=86
I have a new question regarding their daughter noted in the communion book entry (above link). I found a Hiski record that has 't.s.' next to Johan's name. What would that mean?

Re: Johan Kahkonen and Maria Ohtonen's move
I would assume torpare son, son of a crofter. In the previous book (during Anna Greta's birth) he is with his parents:

Re: Johan Kahkonen and Maria Ohtonen's move
Thank you, Jani, for your quick reply. When I looked t.s. up in the Historismi.net under abbreviations I could not find much. A t and an s have so many meanings that it's impossible to come up with a correct answer.
Thanks again, I appreciate your help.
